Movement, research, and education are at the core of Eastward Moving Somatics. As a Canadian, somatically-informed movement education company, Eastward Moving Somatics supports and empowers individuals through experiential and embodied somatic movement education and therapy. Diverse movement practices make up the content offered including: Embodied Yoga and Pilates, Somatic Movement Practices, Contact Dance, Improvisation, Embodied Anatomy, Therapeutic, Restorative and Developmental Movement Practices. All instruction is trauma informed.

Sally Morgan is the director/owner. That’s me! I have a 25 year history working in the fields of education, academia, dance, somatics, yoga, Pilates, and movement education. Eastward Moving Somatics operates both as an online studio and in-person in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. The services provided are in the form of online or in-person private sessions, small group classes, workshops, courses, and retreats.

As a Registered Member of the International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association, I meet the Standards of Practice and uphold the Code of Ethics. For information visit www.ISMETA.org

“Sally combines her background in dance, yoga and pilates with her training in Body-Mind Centering to create unique, challenging classes that help educate (participants) about their bodies and selves. “Every class that I have experienced thus far with Sally has been wonderful. Of all the different classes I’ve taken with different people all over the city (and in other cities) I have felt most comfortable in her environment.”

— Student

“Sally can make you feel challenged and nurtured at the same time. Her style of yoga isn’t so much about holding long stretches, but rather more about subtle movements paired with stretches that seem to get all the muscles unstuck. And Sally seems to radiate a lot it of joy in everything she does.”

Eastward Moving Somatics

stands in support of, and in solidarity with, those fighting oppression, injustice, poverty, ableism, systemic racism, and all those who experience prejudice, discrimination, violence, and persecution. I stand beside and with all those experiencing physical/mental health disability related challenges and/or living with chronic health conditions.

I acknowledge that I am a settler here. I am listening. I am prepared to think about how reconciliation and decolonization go far beyond just recognizing the land we are on. I am dedicated to how we can all take great care and responsibility to make good relations as a way towards not only reconciliation, but decolonization.

I am aware that the fields of movement education, dance, and somatics have been historically dominated by white voices. I am listening and learning, educating myself, and dedicated to supporting change.

I am interested in creating, supporting, and nurturing inclusive and accessible spaces for all to feel welcome, seen, and heard.

Anyone needing a sliding scale (other than what is shown) to support their participation is encouraged to contact me directly.

All body types and abilities are welcome. The online and in-person studios are family and breast feeding friendly.

Please contact me directly if you have any concerns or feedback.
