Frequently Asked Questions

I am a beginner. Where do I start?

If you are just beginning, you have a few options! You may want to book in for an in-person Initial Assessment to establish a program and direction unique to you. You may also choose to book in for a free 15 minute consult with me to speak about your path or any questions you may have. If you are already a physical person and just beginning to diversify your own movement, you may want to try one of the classes in the schedule! Contact me for any further questions.

What is your approach?

I aim to empower and support individuals through embodied movement education. I apply a somatic approach to movement education, whether that be dance, yoga, Pilates, restorative or therapeutic practices. I maintain small class sizes, a student/client centred practice, and aim to be accountable to upholding and practicing within an environment that is based on inclusivity, safety, and care.

What can I expect from a class/workshop?

You can expect a cheerful and positive approach to movement. Class content varies from one class to the next, but you can always expect dynamic and creative sequencing, and to leave class feeling challenged and refreshed. Types of classes currently offered include Core Flow Pilates, Vinyasa Yoga, Therapeutic Movement, Arriving Movement Practice, and Restorative Yoga.

All classes are client/student-centered and all are welcome. Emphasis is placed on the individual and variations and modifications are always encouraged and supported. Bring your water bottle and wear layers of clothing to adjust to temperature. Please arrive at least 5 minutes early so we can begin on time. If you are under 18 please practice with your parent or caregiver.

What can I expect from an Initial Assessment or an Individual Session?

An Initial Assessment is where you begin your movement education experience, most especially if you are brand new or returning to movement after a hiatus for whatever reason. The initial assessment acts as a more in depth diagnostic tool for your own personalized movement program. During your assessment we will address your health history and movement education goals and move through a posture and gait analysis.  Your assessment includes a digital report of our session and basic at-home exercises to enhance your own movement practice.

In an Individual Session is client/student focussed, and starts where you are in your movement journey. You will come with a completed Health/Movement History Form and have outlined 5 goals for your practice. You would come to an Individual Session either after and Initial Assessment or after an already established practice (at home or in class with me) and needing more individualized attention. We will talk through and establish a practice that works for you and work with the goals that you have in mind.

Who are these classes for?

These classes and workshops are for many people. Please contact me if you have questions. Most (though not all) of my students/clients are 40 years-old and up! Many have existing conditions or injuries they are working through and figuring out, and many are joining me for regular classes to both learn about their bodies and to keep moving. I have students/clients who are parents, new mothers, arts workers, artists, filmmakers, dancers, actors, heath care workers, administrators, producers, students, lawyers, entrepreneurs, academics, athletes and retiree’s.

What props do I need?

You do not necessarily need any props, but depending on your budget and your weekly commitment to classes you may want to consider purchasing some. Each class may utilize props in various ways. Most often if you are searching for a recorded class I will let you know in the description what is needed, and if live streamed or in person you will be notified before class begins. I have all the props below in my home studio for your use if you are here in person.

There are also many household items that can be used instead of buying certain props! Get creative!
